Weekend Getaway to Charleston!
Charleston is one of the most picturesque cities in the US and let me tell you it does not disappoint. I spent the weekend there and had an absolute ball. But don’t you worry I’ve rounded up all of my top tips and hot spots so you can enjoy too!
I would say most getaways can be broken down into a few major categories including food, shopping, and where to stay. Charleston has you covered on all of these!
Best Food Spots:
Charleston does not mess around on the food scene. 5 Church was our number one must visit for brunch. The restaurant is located in an old church with soaring ceilings and an unparalleled ambiance. The praline French toast, southern skillet and fresh squeezed orange juice to top off your mimosa will set you up for a successful day. If you’re looking for some killer cocktails Vintage Lounge and Republic Garden Lounge will be at the top of your list. We had the most amazing French 75 at Vintage Lounge! 82 Queen and Vendue Rooftop are both absolutes for dinner. We loved Vendue’s tapas and #views of downtown Charleston. I’d recommend going around sunset for the most spectacular experience. If you’re still hungry after all of that hit up Carmella’s Dessert Bar. This Charleston spot is a favorite among both locals and tourists alike. You won’t want to leave town without trying one of their famous cakes (carrot cake was delicious).
Strolling & Shopping:
If you’ve never been to Charleston you’ve still probably heard of King Street. This is Charleston’s most famous shopping street. It has everything from Anthropologie to Louis Vuitton, but also some amazing #locallyowned businesses like Buxton Books. You could easily spend an entire afternoon strolling and shopping down King Street.
Perhaps hidden alleyways and historic charm are more your speed? Then don’t skip Legare Street, Queen Street or Broad Street. Legare Street in particular has some adorable gardens and that magical lost in the moment vibe that we all crave. Queen Street and Broad Street are both historic thoroughfares in Charleston filled with stunning architecture and quaint shops. Remeber that dinner rec for 82 Queen?! You got it that’s also located on Queen Street!
Where to Stay:
All of these hotels provide that signature southern charm associated with Charleston. Their lobbies are gorgeous, they’re perfectly located downtown to be near all the major hotspots, and they offer some of the prettiest views in the city….I’m talking about you @Venduerooftop.
All I can say is Charleston will make all of your southern hospitality meets chic city dreams come true. You can shop all of my Charleston looks here!
